About The Position

This is a student worker position in the Photo Lab at the College of DuPage. The Photo Lab Assistant will support the Photography Program by opening and closing the lab and lighting studio, assisting other photography students, maintaining photography chemicals, and managing equipment check-out and returns. This role requires knowledge of Macintosh computers and the ability to handle chemicals and lift up to 5 gallons of liquid. A pre-employment background check is required.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of photo process; chemical, mechanical and digital required.
• Knowledge of Macintosh computer operations and software required.
• People skills required.
• Chemical handling required.
• Ability to lift up to 5 gallons of liquid.

Nice To Haves

• COD Student who has taken one or more studio art courses required.
• Prefer a Photography Major who has taken Photo 1101 and 1102 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Photography Program.

• Mix and maintain Photography Chemicals.
• Chemical replenishment.
• Clean and make minor repairs.
• Check out and accept returns of equipment.
• Assist with equipment organization.
