About The Position

This is a student worker position at the College of DuPage. The Music Archivist Assistant will support the music archivist and music faculty in cataloging music holdings, processing borrowing requests, updating an electronic database, identifying, distributing, and filing music, and assessing the condition of music. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in a minimum number of credit hours per semester and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above (waived for first-semester students). Federal Work Study students will be prioritized for hiring to utilize those funds.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic music-reading ability required.
  • Familiarity with choral and instrumental ensembles required.
  • Computer skills; MS Office Word, Excel.
  • Requires sorting, lifting, and transporting large boxes and stacks of music.

Nice To Haves

  • If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.

Responsibilities

  • Assist music archivist and music faculty in catalog of music holdings.
  • Catalog music holdings under the direction of music archivist and music faculty.
  • Process requests to borrow music, in accordance with established borrowing policies.
  • Update electronic database of holdings under the supervision of the music archivist.
  • Identify, distribute and file music.
  • Assess condition of music under the supervision of the music archivist.
