About The Position

Versiti is seeking a Phlebotomist to join their blood drive team. This role involves performing phlebotomy collections of whole blood and apheresis products, interacting with donors to provide an excellent donation experience, and operating mobile drive vehicles. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for preparing collection sites, performing medical interviews to determine donor eligibility, drawing blood, and ensuring donor safety. They will also be involved in re-booking donors for future appointments and contributing to a positive team culture. This position offers paid training and a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements

High School Diploma required
GED required
Less than 1 year job-related experience required.
Knowledge of standardized work routines and methods, general facts and information and/or the use of simple equipment, machines and materials. Knowledge is usually acquired through training on the job.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as Standard Operating Procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other department manuals.
Must have basic mathematical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
Ability to apply judgment to written or oral instructions.
Ability to organize work to provide productive workflow.
Ability to provide a consistently positive donor experience through professional, empathetic donor-centric service.
Ability/desire to contribute to and uphold a positive team culture through respectful communication, behaviors, and collaboration required.
Flexibility to work independently, with a team, and adaptability to changing organizational and donor needs.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to respectfully provide and receive feedback to/from peers/donors/leadership.
Ability to work evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
Ability to learn/utilize computer applications as required to perform duties.
Valid Driver License required.
Cargo certification required.

Responsibilities

Performs phlebotomy collection of whole blood and apheresis products.
Interacts with donors and coordinators, providing a high level of customer service to deliver an excellent donation experience.
Operates the mobile drive vehicle, loading and unloading supplies and transporting the mobile staff in a safe and efficient manner.
Prepares collection site, performs set up of equipment, including technology systems.
Performs accurate medical interviews to determine donor eligibility.
Performs venipunctures/blood draws.
Ensures donor safety.
Re-books donors for future appointments.
Observes and responds to donor questions, concerns, and reactions appropriately.
Follows all DOT guidelines when operating full-size commercial van/Promaster, and safely transports staff, supplies, and equipment.
Loads/unloads supplies and performs set up at the mobile site, including technology systems and quality control.
Performs donor screening (collects donor histories), mini-physical, and phlebotomy.
Treats donors with customer service excellence, presenting a positive image.
Responds to customer inquiries, requests, and complaints with a timely and complete response and escalates to leader when appropriate.
Provides a service-centric donor experience by interacting with donors respectfully, compassionately, and professionally.
May conduct automation (Alyx and/or Trima), including recognizing and responding to automation reactions.
Recruits and converts donors for automation.
Contributes to and upholds a positive team culture and employee experience by fostering teamwork, collaborating effectively, maintaining an encouraging environment, and by supporting coworkers through kind and respectful behaviors.
Maintains product integrity and ensures proper identification of all donors, performs routine maintenance on equipment, and completes department records as needed.
May prepare/pack units for transport.
Observes donors for reactions, provides reaction care and assists other staff in handling reactions if needed.
May be subject to additional background checks as required by sponsor if asked to assist a mobile.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
