About The Position

Canadian Blood Services is seeking a Temporary part-time Phlebotomist (Donor Centre Associate) to join their dynamic Collections team at the Calgary donor centre. The Collections team is responsible for safely collecting donor blood and blood components to provide lifesaving products to patients daily. In this role, the associate will perform phlebotomy in accordance with health and safety standards, working directly with donors, team members, and volunteers to provide safe and quality service throughout the collection process.

Requirements

Completion of high school.
Completion of accredited training program in phlebotomy or one-year related experience.
Minimum 3 years of progressive experience working with the public, particularly in a high customer-focused environment.
Knowledge of and experience working with current Good Manufacturing Practices.
Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs.

Nice To Haves

Previous knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Ability to communicate in more than one language.

Responsibilities

Conduct registration and confidential screening to determine donor eligibility and promote a positive donor experience.
Ensure safe processing and handling of blood products while respecting donor privacy.
Perform venipuncture according to established standards, monitoring donors for safety and comfort, and providing post-donation care and instruction.
Ensure accuracy of product information in the computer system, complete the product labelling process, and prepare products.
Drive continuous improvement by sharing knowledge and supporting best practices to enhance processes and elevate the donor experience.
Assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment for mobile donor clinics in communities.
