About The Position
Inova Schar Infusion is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join its team. This is a full-time position with a Monday–Friday rotating shift and every-other-weekend work. The technician handles chemotherapy and prepares IV admixtures and sterile compounds while following aseptic technique, dose-calculation, documentation, clean-area maintenance, and hazardous-material disposal procedures. The role also includes maintaining appropriate preparation-supply inventory.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of hospital experience working as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician in Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of hire.

- IV or infusion experience.
Responsibilities
- Handle chemotherapy without causing spills, drug aerosolization, or exposure to self, others, or the environment.
- Accurately calculate patient-specific doses from scratch using mg/m² or mg/kg dosing, while minimizing chemotherapy exposure.
- Assess and reorder IV admixture and chemotherapy preparation supplies to avoid stockouts and excess inventory.
- Initiate safe disposal of hazardous materials, sharps, and general trash without prompting.
- Follow IV admixture procedures, including aseptic medication preparation, calculations, clean-area maintenance, and complete documentation.
- Prepare IV admixtures and sterile compounds while avoiding contamination in test solutions.
