About The Position

Inova Schar Infusion is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to prepare IV admixtures and sterile medications safely and accurately. The role involves handling chemotherapy while minimizing exposure risks, calculating patient-specific doses, maintaining supplies, safely disposing of hazardous materials and sharps, and following aseptic procedures and documentation requirements. This is a full-time role with a Monday–Friday rotating shift and every other weekend.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Two years of hospital experience working as a Pharmacy Technician.
Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of hire.

IV or infusion experience.

Responsibilities

Handle chemotherapy while preventing spills, drug aerosolization, and exposures to self, others, or the environment.
Accurately calculate patient-specific doses from scratch using mg/m² or mg/kg dosing.
Assess and reorder IV admixture and chemotherapy preparation supplies to avoid stockouts and excess inventory.
Initiate safe disposal of hazardous materials, sharps, and general trash without prompting.
Follow IV admixture procedures, including aseptic medication preparation, calculations, maintaining a clean area, and complete documentation.
Prepare IV admixtures and perform sterile compounding while preventing contamination in test solutions.
