About The Position
The Pharmacy Technician prepares and distributes medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Duties include preparing non-hazardous and hazardous IV admixtures, refilling automated dispensing cabinets, filling and labeling medications, answering and routing telephone calls, delivering medications to patient care areas, maintaining medication stock levels and proper medication storage, and keeping the pharmacy organized and clean. The technician provides exceptional customer service and uses basic computer skills, information systems, technology, and automation to complete assigned tasks.
Requirements
- High school diploma, certificate, GED, training, or equivalent experience.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician license or registration.
- PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician certification.
- More than 3 years of technician experience in hospital compounding or outpatient infusion.
- Experience with complex hazardous compounding, including activities such as compounding hazardous medications for 20 or more hours per week, novel chemotherapy therapies, TPN, pump filling and programming, and use of closed-system transfer devices (CSTD).
- Minimum 3 years of experience.
