Pharmacy Technician - Back End
About The Position
As a Back-End Pharmacy Technician with Omnicare, a CVS Health company, you will help meet patients’ medication needs and regulatory standards in a closed-door pharmacy. The role works across assigned workstations to support order fulfillment, including packaging and dispensing medication, checking delivery orders and bins for accuracy, and coordinating stock rotations. The pharmacy serves skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and chronic care settings, and is not open to the public. Workstations may include Packaging, Staging, Returns, Receiving, Narcotics, IV, Ekit, Compounding, Omnicell Cycle Fill, and Machine Packaging. The technician also receives product deliveries, pulls and stages product for distribution, rotates stock, coordinates with drivers to support accurate and timely shipments, and performs physical medication inventories.
Requirements
- Certification, licensure, or registration as a pharmacy technician, or as required by state law.
- At least one year of experience as a pharmacy technician or equivalent experience.
- Verifiable high school diploma or GED.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in the long-term care industry.
- Prior experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- PTCB National Certification.
- At least five years of experience as a pharmacy technician or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- Rotate and work in various assigned pharmacy workstations, including Packaging, Staging, Returns, Receiving, Narcotics, IV, Ekit, Compounding, Omnicell Cycle Fill, and Machine Packaging.
- Support order fulfillment in a closed-door pharmacy, including packaging and dispensing medication.
- Review delivery orders and bins for accuracy.
- Receive product deliveries, pull and stage product for distribution, and rotate stock.
- Coordinate activities with drivers to ensure shipments are accurate and deliveries are timely.
- Perform physical inventories of medication.
- Help ensure medication needs and regulatory standards are met for patients.
