About The Position
Walgreens pharmacy micro-fulfillment centers dispense and ship prescriptions to Walgreens retail stores using robotic technology in a central pharmacy environment. The Pharmacy Technician provides order-processing support for fulfillment and assists with preparing and distributing prescription medication through the fulfillment system. The role follows standard operating procedures and company policies and procedures. The technician processes patient registrations and prescription requests, enters refill orders, resolves data-entry exceptions and third-party rejects, and obtains missing prescription information. The position also involves operating automated machinery, sorting medications, moving inventory through workflow stages, counting and filling prescriptions, labeling, packing, and shipping. The technician helps maintain equipment and an orderly work area, assists pharmacists at the facility and other locations, and communicates issues to senior staff as appropriate. An active technician license or certification must be obtained within the first 90 days and maintained.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Basic PC skills, including starting and shutting down a computer, using a mouse, opening and closing programs, switching between programs, saving files, printing documents, and accessing information online.
- Basic search-engine skills, including opening a browser, entering URLs, using a search engine, bookmarking sites, navigating with browser controls, and filling out online forms.
- Intermediate keyboarding skills: at least 25 WPM, touch typing, and document formatting.
- Willingness and ability to push, pull, grasp, and lift, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willingness and ability to carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible shift.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must obtain an active technician license or certification within the first 90 days and maintain it.
Nice To Haves
- PTCB or ExCPT certification.
- At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail, fulfillment, or call center environment.
- Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality and productivity standards.
- Intermediate to advanced keyboarding skills: at least 35 WPM, touch typing, and document formatting.
Responsibilities
- Process new patient registrations in the appropriate system using Walgreens prescription data-entry procedures and guidelines.
- Handle patient prescription requests within HIPAA guidelines and enter refill orders for processing.
- Troubleshoot missing prescription information, interpret medical abbreviations (SIG codes), and resolve data-entry exceptions.
- Operate automated machinery, sort medications, and transition inventory through workflow stages with a focus on quality control.
- Count and fill prescriptions, affix labels, and pack and ship medications.
- Clean and help maintain machinery and keep the work area orderly.
- Resolve third-party rejects by reviewing information, making corrections, and resubmitting according to individual plan requirements.
- Assist pharmacists at the facility and at other locations; identify and communicate issues to senior-level staff as appropriate.
- Obtain an active technician license or certification within the first 90 days and maintain it.
