About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician practices pharmacy in an environment whose philosophy and policies promote patient care. The position requires friendliness and remarkable customer service to enhance patients’ overall health. The technician interacts with patients, supports pharmacy initiatives and clinical services, processes prescriptions and insurance claims, manages medication inventory and related paperwork, and helps maintain a clean, orderly, and confidential pharmacy environment. The role also includes performing CLIA-waived tests as part of the Meijer Health Screening Program and providing immunizations to Meijer patients.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Registered and/or licensed as required in the state of practice.
Retail or community pharmacy practice.
Excellent customer service skills.
Positive attitude.
Proficient typing skills.
Neat and legible penmanship.
Organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.
Effective communication skills and ability to act as an agent of change.

Responsibilities

Interact with patients at various service points of contact.
Promote pharmacy initiatives and clinical services to customers.
Enter customer and prescription information into the pharmacy dispensing system.
Create prescription labels and adjudicate insurance claims.
Retrieve appropriate medications from inventory.
Complete paperwork related to filling prescriptions and receiving drug orders.
Order prescription medication for the Pharmacy Department.
Stock prescription medication.
Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy for a professional appearance.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Perform CLIA-waived tests as part of the Meijer Health Screening Program.
Provide immunizations to Meijer patients.
Complete Meijer employer-based training if state licensure is not required.
Complete Meijer Retrobill training to comply with third-party processes.
