About The Position
The Pharmacy Technician works in the Outpatient Pharmacy at Rochester General Hospital. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail support the unit and help ensure quality patient care. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a schedule covering days, evenings, and every fourth weekend.
Requirements
- No required qualifications; the employer is willing to train.
- National Pharmacy Certification is required within 18 months of hire.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for routine interaction with hospital staff, patients, and visitors.
- One year of work experience in a clinical, retail, or healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Process medication orders and prepare them by repackaging bulk medication into individual-size packages.
- Deliver medication to floors accurately and in a timely manner.
- Add measured drugs or nutrients to intravenous solutions under sterile conditions.
- Ensure concise, pertinent, and complete patient care documentation using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Use the pharmacy information system to run reports and access medication data.
- Receive and store incoming supplies and verify quantities.
- Clean and maintain the repackaging machine after use.
- Perform non-sterile compounding and prepare oral liquids, creams, and ointments in a clean environment.
- Measure and combine medication accurately and document the work properly.
- Ensure proper disposal of medication.
