About The Position

UC Irvine is recruiting a Temporary Pharmacy Technician through its Temporary Employment Services (TES) Department. The technician processes, fills, and dispenses prescriptions according to established pharmacy procedures and regulatory guidelines; enters medication orders and maintains patient prescription information; applies knowledge of UC SHIP insurance benefits, including formulary guidelines and coverage alternatives; and assists with inventory management.

This recruitment is ongoing to build a pool of potential candidates. Interviews and hiring depend on internal hiring needs and how well a candidate’s experience matches assignment requirements. Most temporary positions are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., although occasional part-time, weekend, and evening hours may be available depending on the assignment. Some assignments may require health clearance or a valid California driver’s license for university vehicle use.

Requirements

• Hold a current Pharmacy Technician license issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
• Complete a recognized and accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.
• Have prior work experience in a pharmacy setting, with hands-on proficiency in computer data entry, customer service, and clerical tasks.
• Be able to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English.

Nice To Haves

• Prior healthcare experience in a clinic, hospital, or ambulatory care environment.
• Familiarity with university student health insurance plans or complex insurance adjudication processes.
