About The Position
Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Tech II assists in providing pharmaceutical care to various customers by verifying medication packaging processes and outcomes. The role practices within the scope of state and federal regulations. It includes preparing prescriptions and medications, supporting material resource management, dispensing, clerical and billing duties, and helping ensure accurate documentation of services and supplies provided to patients. The technician also participates in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement, maintains competency in the IV room including hazardous compounding, provides some functional supervision and mentoring to technicians, and may precept new hires and technician students.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Licensed as a Certified Pharmacy Tech with the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy or Oregon Board of Pharmacy, based on the state worked.
- National certification (CPhT, ExCPT, or equivalent).
Responsibilities

- Ensure accurate documentation of services and supplies provided to patients.

- Understand the limitations of registered technician responsibilities in dispensing medications and remain within the scope of practice.
- Maintain competency to work in the IV room, including performing hazardous compounding.
- Provide some functional supervision of technicians.
- Ensure required departmental functions are completed to provide effective and efficient service.
- Precept new hires and technician students as required.
- Mentor technicians as they learn new tasks.
