About The Position

The Pharmacy Tech II practices the profession of pharmacy in an environment focused on patient care. This person interacts with patients and provides friendly, remarkable customer service to support overall patient health. The role supports pharmacy operations by entering prescription information, preparing labels, handling insurance claims, retrieving and stocking medications, completing paperwork, and ordering prescription medication. It also promotes pharmacy initiatives and clinical services while maintaining patient confidentiality and a clean, orderly pharmacy.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Registered and/or licensed as required in the state of practice.
Retail or community pharmacy practice experience.
Excellent customer service skills.
Positive attitude.
Proficient typing skills.
Neat and legible penmanship.
Organizational and prioritization skills.
Teamwork.
Reliable attendance.
Basic math skills.

Responsibilities

Interact with patients at various service points of contact.
Promote pharmacy initiatives and clinical services to customers.
Enter customer and prescription information into the pharmacy dispensing system.
Create prescription labels and adjudicate insurance claims.
Retrieve the appropriate medication from inventory.
Complete paperwork related to filling prescriptions and receiving drug orders.
Order prescription medication for the Pharmacy Department.
Stock prescription medication.
Prioritize workload and maintain effective organization.
Communicate effectively and act as an agent of change.
Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy for a professional appearance.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Obtain state licensure when required, or successfully complete Meijer employer-based training when licensure is not required.
