About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Tech II assists in providing pharmaceutical care to various customers by verifying medication packaging processes and outcomes. The role practices within the scope of state and federal regulations and supports prescription preparation, departmental functions, quality assurance, and continuous quality improvement. It includes maintaining competency in the IV room, including hazardous compounding, providing some functional supervision of technicians, and precepting or mentoring technicians as needed.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Licensed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy or Oregon Board of Pharmacy, based on the state worked.
• National certification (CPhT, ExCPT, or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in preparing prescriptions and medications, including material resource management, dispensing, clerical, and billing duties.
• Verify medication packaging processes and outcomes.
• Ensure accurate documentation of services and supplies provided to patients.
• Participate in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement activities.
• Remain within the scope of practice and understand the limitations of a registered technician’s responsibilities in dispensing medications.
• Maintain competency to work in the IV room, including performing hazardous compounding.
• Provide some functional supervision of technicians.
• Ensure required departmental functions are completed to provide effective and efficient service.
• Precept new hires and technician students as required.
• Mentor technicians in learning new tasks.
• Demonstrate the Organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
