About The Position

The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM), School of Pharmacy is seeking two full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track pharmacy practice faculty members to teach in the Doctor of Pharmacy program. These positions are based in Bradenton, Florida. The faculty members will be responsible for teaching clinical kinetics, drug information, and pharmacotherapeutics, integrating pharmacotherapeutics with medicinal chemistry and pharmacology. A high degree of collaboration and teamwork with other faculty members is expected. The positions involve teaching students at the local campus and in the online distance education pathway, contributing to the planning and administration of the School of Pharmacy, advising students, serving on school committees, coordinating courses, participating in accreditation and other administrative functions, and contributing to the scholarly pursuits of the school. The role also includes a clinical practice component where the faculty member will precept final year pharmacy students. LECOM's School of Pharmacy is accredited by ACPE and offers a four-year traditional or online distance education program. Faculty are expected to be part of a dynamic program and supportive of collaboration within the school and with the College of Osteopathic Medicine and School of Dental Medicine. The school provides time and funding for professional development.

Requirements

Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
Residency training, fellowship training, or equivalent experience.
Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Florida.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to gain and maintain confidence and cooperation of faculty, administration, and students.
Proficiency in the use of personal computers, audio/visual equipment, computer programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet access), fax machine, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment.
Effective use of interpersonal and communications skills, including tact and diplomacy.
Effective use of organizational and planning skills, including attention to detail and follow-through.
Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, planning, records management, and general administration.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Flexibility and ability to perform successfully when challenged by changing workflow priorities.
Knowledge of student and patient’s privacy (FERPA, HIPAA).
Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
Ability to follow proper OSHA and safety guidelines, and protect equipment (office, medical, facility).
Ability to be trained and certified on the Institutional Data System.
Ability to establish and effective working relationships.
Ability to work cooperatively and collegially with others, consistent with a workplace of dignity and respect and EEO rules and regulations.
Ability to maintain an established work schedule as described in the professional contract.
Ability to report to work as scheduled, ready to devote full attention and energy to the important work of LECOM.

Responsibilities

Promote and preserve the mission of LECOM.
Teach students at the local campus and in the online distance education pathway.
Coordinate courses and prepare educational tools (A/V, demonstration models, lectures, lesson plans, etc.) for said courses.
Prepare demonstrations, lectures, small group discussions, and select suggested and required reading from various sources, coordinating these educational tools with other faculty members for students in all pathways.
Develop and institute logistical, instructional, and pedagogical policies for the creation and delivery of online courses.
Contribute to the planning and administration of the School of Pharmacy.
Interview prospective candidates for the School of Pharmacy.
Serve as advisor/mentor to assigned students.
Serve as advisor to at least one student club.
Serve on committees as assigned.
Contribute to the scholarly pursuits of the school by providing, at minimum, one scholarly activity or research project yearly.
Prepare evaluation tools to aid in the evaluation of students’ work product and identify students who are weak in various areas.
Participate in faculty and professional development opportunities.
Participate in accreditation and other administrative functions.
Be available for work during the hours assigned for student instruction.
Take direction and receive assignments from the Associate Dean of Pharmacy.
Work closely and collaboratively with other Faculty and Staff in and on a variety of shared responsibilities, and ensure good communication with other administrative offices.
Contribute to and be responsible for overall student success, including advising and student outcomes.
Contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction.
Participate in scholarly activity to enrich and broaden the student learning experience.
Commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach.
Accept other duties assigned/needed for the Institution’s needs.
Precept final year pharmacy students in a clinical practice setting.
