The Practice Coordinator plays a central role in advancing this mission by leading a clinical practice group and overseeing student learning, patient care delivery, and practice operations.

Requirements

• DDS or DMD degree, with licensure or eligibility for licensure in Massachusetts.
• Five to ten years of substantial experience in private dental practice and/or dental education.
• Demonstrated passion for dentistry and a strong commitment to teaching in a fast-paced, dynamic academic environment.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across disciplines and work effectively within teams.
• Proficiency in information technology and computer applications relevant to clinical and academic environments.

Nice To Haves

• Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD).
• Completion of a General Practice Residency (GPR) or Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program.
• Prior experience in an academic or teaching environment.
• Demonstrated engagement in dental education through professional associations, continuing education.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a clinical practice group consisting of approximately 35 third-year and 35 fourth-year predoctoral students.
• Provide hands-on oversight of patient care, ensuring alignment with TUSDM Standards of Care and the best practices of private general dental practice.
• Instruct, evaluate, and advise students on all aspects of comprehensive patient care, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical execution.
• Deliver chair-side instruction, actively involve in teaching and mentorship, emphasizing critical thinking, ethical decision-making, professionalism, and patient-centered care.
• Serve as a role model in patient communication, relationship management, and clinical excellence.
• Manage administrative and managerial aspects of the practice, including operational performance and financial integrity.
• Ensure compliance with institutional protocols, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and leadership across the School to support integrated educational and clinical operations.
• Participate actively in the Basic Science–Clinical Science Spiral Seminar Series and other departmental and school-wide educational initiatives.
• Contribute to fostering an environment that promotes student leadership, professionalism, and civic engagement.
