About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Nephrology has an opening for a 1.0 FTE/.8 cFTE open rank faculty member to provide inpatient, outpatient and procedural services at Children's Hospital Colorado. This position will include clinical responsibilities across the inpatient, ambulatory, and procedural aspects of our program, as well as opportunities for involvement in the administrative, research, and educational aspects of our program. Opportunities for serving in clinical leadership positions over aspects of the Nephrology clinical program (e.g. Clinical Medical Director, Medical Director of Kidney Transplantation) are also available, depending on clinical and leadership experience.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Nephrology
  • Must be licensed or able to obtain licensure and DEA certification in the State of Colorado prior to start date
  • Clinical experience with complex kidney disease.
  • 7 years of related faculty-level or equivalent experience (for Associate Professor)
  • 10 or more years of experience at the Associate Professor rank or equivalent experience (for Professor)
  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Procedural proficiency with percutaneous renal biopsy by ultrasound guidance
  • Clinical experience in an academic setting
  • Experience in precepting residents, learners and fellows in an outpatient clinical setting

Responsibilities

  • Provides medical patient care by interviewing, examining and treating of clinical patients in order to meet their medical needs.
  • Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Records physical findings and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition.
  • Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
  • Oversees mid-level medical staff as assigned as well as nursing clinical staff.
  • Orders studies, test and ancillary services.
  • Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with regulatory standards.
  • Consults with Medical Director and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.
  • Assists in the resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients.
  • May refer patients to specialized health resources for treatment.
  • Orders appropriate diagnostic screening tests according to protocol.
