About The Position
Provides pharmacy consulting services to customers on effective medication use, drug interactions, and preventive healthcare services such as immunizations. Ensures prescribed medications are properly compounded, dispensed, reviewed, and verified in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies. Supports pharmacy workflow and assists the Pharmacy Manager with pharmacy financials, inventory management, and customer experience. The role provides patient counseling, performs pharmacist tasks when needed, supports regulatory compliance and pharmacy operations, and delivers retail, clinical, and wellness services. It also supports pharmacy staff hiring, training, coaching, performance, professional development, and communication of corporate health and wellness information.
Requirements
- Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited educational institution before the position start date.
- Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure from the applicable Board of Pharmacy in the states within the district within 90 days of hire, per district guidelines.
- Must be a Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and patients, offer assistance, resolve issues, and answer questions to provide a positive customer experience.
- Model customer service practices and build relationships with valuable customers by anticipating needs and promoting healthcare services.
- Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, interactions, contraindications, privacy, generic and lower-cost medicines, and over-the-counter products; refer patients to a medical provider when appropriate.
- Perform pharmacist tasks, including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, medication management, and dispensing prescriptions when required by workload.
- Ensure pharmacy operations comply with regulations, company policies, and standards; assist the Pharmacy Manager in establishing efficient workflow procedures and coordinating activities.
- Handle pharmacy opening, closing, and shift-change duties.
- Apply Good Faith Dispensing policy requirements together with state and federal controlled-substance laws when filling prescriptions.
- Maintain knowledge of pharmacy information systems, including Intercom Plus, registers, automation, and StoreNET; support users and propose system enhancements.
- Process insurance claims accurately, resolve customer issues and payment rejections, follow up with insurers and medical providers, and participate in third-party audits.
- Contact medical providers to clarify prescriptions, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies; suggest alternatives and answer provider questions.
- Provide retail, clinical, and wellness services, including immunizations, flu shots, diabetes awareness, and other preventive healthcare services.
- Assist the Pharmacy Manager with analyzing financial, customer-service, asset-protection, and inventory-management performance data; review KPIs with the Pharmacy Manager, Store Manager, and Healthcare Supervisor.
- Maintain relationships with local healthcare providers and participate in community outreach to promote pharmacy services and growth.
- Partner with Central Pharmacy Operations on customer registration, third-party reviews, and customer issue resolution; in virtual environments, conduct virtual product reviews according to company procedures.
- Assist the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training; coach staff, provide constructive feedback, monitor customer service, and support employee development.
- Promote teamwork, motivate team members, set expectations, monitor and recognize progress, and foster a shared vision.
- Maintain current pharmacy and healthcare knowledge, complete required certifications, education credits, and training, and pursue professional development.
- Communicate relevant corporate health and wellness services or strategy information to pharmacy staff in support of the Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager.
