About The Position

Encompass Health is seeking a Pharmacy Director to ensure the safe and efficient provision of pharmacy services at a hospital. The director oversees pharmacy department operations, provides direct patient and pharmaceutical care, and leads and develops pharmacy staff. The role requires competence in clinical health system pharmacy practices and ensuring regulatory compliance. The director also collaborates on departmental budgets and serves on hospital committees.

Requirements

• Licensed in good standing by the State Pharmacy Board for the state in which the hospital is located.
• Successful completion of a pharmacy degree from a U.S.-accredited program, or an international program evaluated by a recognized certifying agency as substantially equivalent to U.S. accreditation standards.
• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Convey the mission of the hospital and organization to pharmacy staff, hold them accountable for performance, and motivate them to enhance and develop their capabilities.
• Oversee pharmacy department operations, including scheduling, continuous assessment, and implementation of process improvements.
• Provide direct patient and pharmaceutical care.
• Demonstrate and maintain competence in clinical health system pharmacy practices, including antimicrobial stewardship, non-sterile and sterile drug preparation, controlled substances, hospital pharmacy accreditation, anticoagulation drug therapy management, and medication safety.
• Educate staff on pharmaceutical care and medication management, and ensure the pharmacy complies with local, state, and national regulations.
• Stay current with new medications, indications, and evidence-based medicine.
• Collaborate with the Controller to prepare and manage departmental budgets for staffing, drugs, and supplies.
• Serve and lead hospital committees, including Quality Assurance, Formulary, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, MEC, and Safety, as needed.
