About The Position

Encompass Health is hiring a Pharmacy Director to ensure the safe and efficient provision of pharmacy services at a hospital. The director leads pharmacy staff and department operations, provides direct patient and pharmaceutical care, maintains clinical pharmacy competencies, supports regulatory compliance, and collaborates on departmental budgets and hospital committees. The role is part of a supportive team environment at a national inpatient rehabilitation organization.

Requirements

• Licensed in good standing by the State Pharmacy Board for the state in which the hospital is located.
• Successful completion of a pharmacy degree from a U.S.-accredited program, or an international program evaluated by a recognized certifying agency as substantially equivalent to U.S. accreditation standards.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Convey the hospital and organization’s mission to pharmacy staff, hold them accountable for performance, and motivate their development.
• Oversee pharmacy department operations, including scheduling, continuous assessment, and implementation of process improvements.
• Provide direct patient and pharmaceutical care.
• Demonstrate and maintain competence in clinical health system pharmacy practices, including antimicrobial stewardship, non-sterile and sterile drug preparation, controlled substances, hospital pharmacy accreditation, anticoagulation drug therapy management, and medication safety.
• Educate staff on pharmaceutical care and medication management and ensure pharmacy compliance with local, state, and national regulations.
• Stay current with new medications, indications, and evidence-based medicine.
• Collaborate with the Controller to prepare and manage departmental budgets for staffing, drugs, and supplies.
• Serve and lead hospital committees, including Quality Assurance, Formulary, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, MEC, and Safety, as needed.
