About The Position

Encompass Health is seeking a Pharmacy Director to ensure the safe and efficient provision of pharmacy services at an inpatient rehabilitation hospital. The director oversees pharmacy operations, provides direct patient and pharmaceutical care, and leads and develops the pharmacy team. The role requires maintaining competence in clinical health system pharmacy practices and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. The director also collaborates with the Controller on departmental budgets and serves on hospital committees as needed.

Requirements

• Pharmacy degree from a U.S.-accredited program, or from an international program evaluated by a recognized certifying agency as substantially equivalent to U.S. accreditation standards.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Pharmacy license in good standing from the State Pharmacy Board for the state where the hospital is located.

Responsibilities

• Communicate the hospital and organization’s mission to pharmacy staff, hold them accountable for performance, and motivate them to develop their capabilities.
• Oversee pharmacy department operations, including scheduling, continuous assessment, and process improvements.
• Provide direct patient and pharmaceutical care.
• Maintain competence in clinical health system pharmacy practices, including antimicrobial stewardship, sterile and non-sterile drug preparation, controlled substances, hospital pharmacy accreditation, anticoagulation drug therapy management, and medication safety.
• Educate staff on pharmaceutical care and medication management and ensure pharmacy compliance with local, state, and national regulations.
• Stay current with new medications, indications, and evidence-based medicine.
• Collaborate with the Controller to prepare and manage budgets for staffing, drugs, and supplies.
• Serve on and lead hospital committees as needed, including Quality Assurance, Formulary, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, MEC, and Safety.
