About The Position

OpenLoop is hiring a Pharmacy Engineer to own pharmacy integrations end to end and help ensure prescriptions reach the right pharmacy, are filled, and get to patients quickly and compliantly. The role works across e-prescribing platforms, EHR and clinical applications, and partner, mail-order, and compounding pharmacies. It involves understanding pharmacy software stacks, maintaining reliable prescription workflows, and onboarding new pharmacy partners as the company grows.

Requirements

Knowledge of pharmacy systems, prescription workflows, common failure points, and applicable regulations.
Ability to own a workflow end to end.
Comfort reading API documentation and debugging integrations.
Care about ensuring patients receive medication on time.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain prescription and pharmacy integrations, including e-prescribing and order routing between EHR and clinical applications and partner, mail-order, and compounding pharmacies.
Maintain prescription-system reliability and software lifecycle integrity so patients receive accurate medication in a timely manner; create alerts and dashboards to identify stuck or failed orders.
Support compliance for EPCS, PDMP checks, state pharmacy rules, and HIPAA controls on PHI; maintain audit trails, access controls, and documentation for regulatory and partner reviews.
Lead technical onboarding of pharmacy partners, including POS, software, and hardware setup; data mapping; formulary and medication catalog configuration; testing; and go-live.
Track pharmacy partner performance, SLAs, and integration issue resolution.
Work with Clinical Ops, Patient Support, and Engineering to automate pharmacy tasks such as refills, prior authorization handoffs, exception handling, and patient status updates.
Identify opportunities to use AI to reduce ticket volume and speed up fulfillment.
Understand each pharmacy’s prescribing, shipment, and compliance software, and recommend replacements and integrations that improve inventory and compliance tracking.
