About The Position

The Pharmacist creates an outstanding customer experience and inspires associates to deliver excellent customer service. The role establishes and maintains a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return; achieves department sales and profit goals; controls quality assurance standards and expenses; and schedules and staffs technicians to meet business needs. The Pharmacist monitors department functions, duties, and activities and demonstrates the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The position fulfills customers’ prescription needs with a focus on accuracy, administers vaccines as needed, and provides patient counseling and pharmaceutical care. It ensures pharmacy operations comply with applicable local, state, and federal laws, including HIPAA, and maintains appropriate records, inventory, security, equipment, cleanliness, signage, and operational practices. The Pharmacist also supports and guides pharmacy associates, responds cooperatively to customer and business issues, and continually develops pharmacy knowledge and skills.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.
Current state pharmacist licensure in good standing.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment and manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.

Nice To Haves

One year of retail experience.
A second language, in speaking, reading, and/or writing.

Responsibilities

Fulfill customers’ prescription needs while concentrating on the accuracy of every prescription filled.
Administer vaccines as needed.
Provide patient counseling and pharmaceutical care to customers.
Ensure the pharmacy complies with all local, state, and federal laws, including HIPAA.
Maintain a professional image through personal appearance, conduct, attitude, and the physical condition of the pharmacy; adhere to pharmacy standards and enforce company dress standards.
Develop a thorough knowledge of the trade area, its customers, and its competition.
Create a positive pharmacy department image through strong service, friendliness, and cooperation with customers, associates, and outside vendors.
Monitor stock replenishment, inventory levels, policies and procedures, record keeping, security, sanitation, scheduling, equipment operation, pricing, planograms, returns, budgets, management reports, and product recalls according to company policy.
Maintain proper records, inventory, and security for scheduled drugs, including controlled substances and narcotics.
Follow procedures for handling pharmacy products from authorized sources.
Use accuracy tools appropriately, including the accuracy scanner and 24-hour post-dispensing audit report.
Establish and maintain record-keeping practices needed for legal compliance, company and accounting policies, and requested reports.
Maintain a clean, neat work area, including counters, shelves, floors, and the customer counter.
Ensure product returns are handled promptly and according to company policy.
Maintain equipment, including computers, printers, accuracy scanners, and cash registers, in working condition.
Maintain and organize policy manuals, reference books, state laws, and required equipment, and verify staff members know how to use them.
Maintain required signage, including store hours, counseling and service signs, pharmacist photographs and names, and other requested signs.
Make a strong and continuous effort to broaden personal knowledge and pharmacy skills.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict reasonably, nonconfrontationally, and cooperatively.
Act honestly and with integrity when handling customer and business information.
Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
