About The Position

The Pharmacist fulfills customers’ prescription needs while ensuring accuracy, provides patient counseling and pharmaceutical care, and administers vaccines as needed. The role helps create an outstanding customer experience and a safe, clean pharmacy environment, and supports department sales, profit, quality assurance, expense control, and staffing goals. The Pharmacist monitors pharmacy operations and ensures compliance with applicable laws, company policies, and professional standards while demonstrating respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.
Current state pharmacist licensure in good standing.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
Ability to handle stressful situations.

Nice To Haves

One year of retail experience.
A second language, in speaking, reading, and/or writing.

Responsibilities

Fulfill customers’ prescription needs, concentrating on the accuracy of every prescription filled.
Administer vaccines as needed.
Provide patient counseling and pharmaceutical care to customers.
Ensure pharmacy compliance with local, state, and federal laws, including HIPAA.
Maintain a professional image through personal appearance, conduct, attitude, and the physical condition of the pharmacy; adhere to pharmacy standards and enforce company dress standards.
Develop a thorough knowledge of the trade area, its customers, and its competition.
Create a positive pharmacy department image through strong service, friendliness, and cooperation with customers, associates, and outside vendors.
Monitor stock replenishment, inventory levels, policies and procedures, record keeping, security, sanitation, scheduling, equipment operation, pricing, planograms, returns, budgets, reports to management, and product recalls according to company policy.
Maintain proper records, inventory, and security for scheduled drugs, including controlled substances and narcotics.
Follow procedures for handling pharmacy products from authorized sources.
Ensure appropriate use of accuracy tools, including the accuracy scanner and 24-hour post-dispensing audit report.
Maintain records required for legal compliance, company and accounting policies, and requested reports.
Keep the work area clean, neat, organized, and sanitary, including counters, shelves, floors, and the customer counter.
Ensure product returns are handled promptly and according to company policy.
Maintain equipment, including computers, printers, accuracy scanners, and cash registers, in working condition.
Maintain and organize policy manuals, reference books, state laws, and required equipment, and verify that staff know how to use them.
Maintain required signage, including store hours, counseling and service signs, pharmacists’ photographs and names, and other requested signs.
Make a strong, continuous effort to broaden personal knowledge and pharmacy skills.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict reasonably, cooperatively, and without confrontation.
Act honestly and with integrity when handling customer and business information.
Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer and business issues.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
