About The Position

This full-time, evening-shift Pharmacist position is based at Pickerington Methodist Hospital and includes a shift bonus. The pharmacist dispenses and compounds medications, interprets prescriptions and provider orders, counsels patients, manages drug therapy, and performs drug-utilization activities. The role collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare practitioners to provide safe, high-quality, and cost-effective medication therapy. Depending on the practice setting and state law, the pharmacist may administer medications. The pharmacist also serves as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents and supports the training and development of colleagues and learners. The position requires independent work, sound critical thinking and problem-solving, and the ability to manage complex issues with minimal guidance. Strong interpersonal skills—including clear communication, collaboration, empathy, mentorship, and building trust with patients, families, and colleagues—are important. The pharmacist may act as a resource to less-experienced colleagues and lead small projects or ongoing activities. Responsibilities vary by practice area and may include acute care or infusion, ambulatory care or population health, retail, and medication safety, stewardship, and utilization. Across these areas, the pharmacist reviews and clarifies medication orders, supports appropriate dispensing and administration, manages and monitors drug therapy, counsels patients, contributes to education and precepting, and directs pharmacy technicians and support personnel. In medication safety, stewardship, and utilization, the role also leads site-level strategies, supports committees, develops and maintains policies, uses data and best practices to identify improvements, and helps ensure compliance with safety recommendations and regulatory standards. The role is expected to follow OhioHealth’s Service Excellence Standards of Behavior and Core Values of Compassion, Excellence, Inclusion, Integrity, and Stewardship, with a consistent focus on safety, quality, and efficiency as part of a High Reliability Organization.
