About The Position

Ensures appropriate, safe, effective, and efficient use of medications by applying pharmaceutical principles to support optimal patient outcomes. Consults with physicians and professional staff, monitors and evaluates drug therapy, and suggests alternative therapy as appropriate. Promotes understanding of drug therapy and disease-state management by educating health care professionals, patients, and the public.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
• Working knowledge of drug therapy and disease-state management.
• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure by the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy (ALBoP).
• Parenteral licensure or eligibility.
• Permanent licenses are required within 6 months of placement into the position.

Nice To Haves

• ASHP residency or fellowship.
• Working knowledge of applicable pharmacy operations and procedures.
• Working knowledge of practice in specialty care areas.
• Board certification.
• Preceptorship.
