About The Position

Chevron is a global energy company focused on providing affordable, reliable, and cleaner energy. For the 2025-2026 recruiting season, Chevron is seeking entry-level Petroleum Engineers. These roles are primarily located in Houston, Texas, with other potential locations in Covington, Louisiana, and Midland, Texas. Petroleum Engineers work in multi-disciplinary teams, developing technical skills in areas such as asset development planning, production operations, reserves management, and capital project development. Entry-level engineers will be assigned to positions and projects that contribute to Chevron's value, with guidance from a supervisor and a technical mentor. Positions can be field or office-based. Chevron offers a competency-based employee development program for recent graduates, typically including two to three technical assignments in the first five years, supported by training, mentoring, and on-the-job experience. Mobility is encouraged, with potential opportunities for assignments in different locations, including overseas after ten or more years of experience. Other potential career paths include asset team leadership, business planning, joint venture management, operations supervision, portfolio development, and project management. Engineers will solve challenging technical problems using digital technologies.

Requirements

  • Students completing the last year of their bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines with less than two years of directly related work experience.
  • Strong academic performance in core programs.
  • Very good communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • This position may require driving on a routine basis.
  • For Chevron Subsurface Center of Excellence (COE): Students completing the last year of their Master’s or Doctorate program or with less than 2 years post-graduate degree experience in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in research, technology development or consulting (for COE).
  • Previous experience in an integrated oil or international service company intern program (for COE).
  • Participation in an industry or energy company university research project (for COE).
  • Chevron regrets that it will not sponsor employment visas or consider individuals on time-limited visa status for this position unless the candidate possesses a Ph.D. or is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program.

  • Develop technical skills in production and reservoir engineering assignments.
  • Focus on asset development planning, production operations, reserves, uncertainty and risk management, and capital project development.
  • Contribute value to Chevron through assigned positions and projects.
  • Solve technically challenging problems utilizing cutting-edge digital technologies and techniques.
  • Potentially work in a variety of assignments at different locations, including domestic upstream operations or research-focused Center of Excellence (COE).
  • May have opportunities for asset team leadership, business planning and analysis, non-operated joint venture asset management, operations supervision, portfolio development, and project management.
  • Potential for overseas assignments after ten or more years of experience.
