About The Position
Pet Paradise is seeking a professional, friendly, and motivated Pet Stylist/Groomer to provide grooming services and attentive care for pets. The role includes consulting with customers about available services and costs, grooming multiple pets each day, and maintaining a clean and healthy grooming environment. The work takes place indoors in a heated, high-humidity area with loud background noise from dryers. This is a full-time position with a flexible Monday–Friday schedule, while also requiring flexibility to meet resort scheduling needs, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times. Compensation is 50% commission on grooms and 40% commission on baths; a sign-on bonus and additional bonuses are available. Pet Paradise offers ongoing training and opportunities to develop skills and pursue other pet-care careers within the company.
Requirements
- One year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Customer-service orientation and excellent verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with standard cuts for all breeds.
- Ability to safely and comfortably handle dogs and cats of a variety of sizes.
- Strong work ethic; organized, reliable, and a team player.
- Flexibility to meet resort scheduling needs, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times.
- Ability and stamina to groom several pets per day.
Nice To Haves
- For candidates with less than one year of grooming experience, discussion may be available about completing parts of the Grooming Training Program through the Paragon School.
Responsibilities
- Consult with customers, explain available and completed services, and discuss costs.
- Groom several pets per day, including cutting and styling.
- Check pets for parasites, lumps, bumps, or cuts before bathing.
- Clean and pluck ears, trim nails, and express anal glands.
- Bathe pets using appropriate shampoo and conditioner; demat, brush, and fluff-dry them.
- Maintain the grooming room, including cleaning cages, tubs, and tables; vacuuming and mopping floors; and cleaning clipper blades, scissors, and brushes after use.
- Maintain a clean and healthy environment for pets.
