About The Position

Pet Paradise is seeking a professional, friendly, and motivated Pet Stylist/Groomer to provide grooming services and attentive care to guests. The role includes consulting with customers about available services and costs, grooming dogs and cats safely and skillfully, and maintaining a clean grooming area. The position works in a heated, humid indoor environment with loud background noise from dryers. The schedule is flexible and must accommodate resort needs, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times. Compensation is 50% commission on grooms and 40% commission on baths; a sign-on bonus and additional bonuses are available.

Pet Paradise provides pet day camp, boarding, and grooming and veterinary-care discounts for employees’ pets, along with ongoing training and opportunities to develop skills for other pet-care careers within the company.

Requirements

• One year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Customer-service orientation and excellent verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with standard cuts for all breeds.
• Ability to safely and comfortably handle canines and felines of various sizes.
• Strong work ethic; organized, reliable, and a team player.
• Ability to maintain a clean and healthy environment for guests.
• Flexibility to meet resort scheduling needs, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Consult with customers, explain available and rendered services, and explain costs.
• Safely and professionally groom several guests per day, with the physical ability and stamina required.
• Check guests for parasites, lumps, bumps, or cuts before bathing.
• Clean and pluck ears, trim nails, and express external anal glands.
• Bathe guests using appropriate shampoo and conditioner; demat, brush, and fluff-dry them.
• Maintain the grooming room, including cleaning cages, tubs, and tables; vacuuming and mopping floors; and cleaning clipper blades, scissors, and brushes after use.
• Grow the customer base and service volume by making calls, cross-selling, and identifying potential service needs during downtime.
• Greet and check in guests professionally.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Resort Manager and/or Grooming Manager.
