About The Position

Pet Paradise is seeking a professional, friendly, and motivated Pet Stylist/Groomer to provide grooming services and attentive care to pets. The role includes consulting with customers about available services and costs, grooming pets safely and skillfully, and helping grow the grooming customer base. The position is part time, with a schedule seeking availability on Mondays and Thursdays. Compensation is 50% commission on grooms and 40% commission on baths; a sign-on bonus and additional bonuses are available.

The work takes place indoors in a heated, high-humidity area with loud background noise from dryers. Pet Paradise describes its locations as full-service pet care destinations offering day camp, grooming, veterinary care, and boarding. Team members receive ongoing training and may develop skills for other pet-care careers within the company.

Requirements

• One year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Customer-service orientation and excellent verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with standard cuts for all breeds and ability to handle canines and felines of a variety of sizes safely and comfortably.
• Strong work ethic; organized, reliable, and a team player.
• Ability to maintain a clean and healthy environment for guests.
• Flexibility to meet resort scheduling needs, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Physical ability and stamina to groom several pets per day.

Responsibilities

• Consult with customers and explain available services, services rendered, and costs.
• Safely and skillfully groom several pets per day, with the physical ability and stamina required.
• Check pets for parasites, lumps, bumps, or cuts before bathing.
• Clean and pluck ears, trim nails, and express external anal glands.
• Bathe pets using appropriate shampoo and conditioner; demat, brush, and fluff-dry them.
• Maintain the grooming room, including cleaning cages, tubs, and tables; vacuuming and mopping floors; and cleaning clipper blades, scissors, and brushes after use.
• Grow the customer base and service volume by making calls, cross-selling, and looking for potential service needs during downtime.
• Greet and check in guests professionally.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Resort Manager and/or Grooming Manager.
