About The Position
Meyer’s is hiring a part-time Pet Care Lead for its facility in Belvidere, on Rockford’s east side. The role is 20–30 hours per week and involves caring for dogs and supporting their stay while their owners are away. The facility is staffed every day of the year, so availability for weekends and holidays is required. The position reports to the Lodging Manager. The Pet Care Lead helps ensure each guest is comfortable, happy, healthy, and receiving the services requested by the owner. The role requires experience with dogs, confidence handling dogs of all sizes, attention to detail, teamwork, reliability, and a commitment to cleanliness. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous dog experience beyond simply owning a dog.
- Good dog-handling skills and the ability to handle dogs of all sizes without fear or allowing them to control you.
- Excellent work history and references.
- Demonstrated success working as a member of a team.
- Ability to learn new procedures and processes quickly.
- Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of ownership, accountability, and initiative.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining a positive attitude and ensuring excellent care.
- Willingness to go above and beyond when needed.
- Flexibility and a positive response to change.
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds; be in good physical condition; squat, stoop, bend, lift, and walk extensively during a shift.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather and temperatures.

Responsibilities
- Ensure each guest is comfortable, happy, and receiving the services requested by the owner.
- Complete daily duties in a timely manner.
- Monitor the health and wellness of every guest.
- Communicate clearly with the leadership team.
- Feed and medicate guests and maintain detailed records of their stays.
- Maintain high cleanliness standards throughout the facility, play yards, and outdoor dog patios.
- Exercise guests.
- Provide basic grooming, including bathing, nail trims, brushing, and ear cleaning.
- Ensure each guest goes home clean and happy, with the owner’s expectations exceeded.
