Pet Care Specialist
About The Position
Barkaritaville Pet Resort in San Antonio is hiring full-time and part-time Kennel Attendants to provide daily care for dogs staying at the facility. The role involves feeding, bathing, walking, cleaning, monitoring behavior, and helping ensure each pet’s comfort and safety. Kennel Attendants work with other team members to maintain a clean, positive, and organized environment. The job is physically active, involving lifting, bending, and being on your feet for most of the shift. Employees must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather, including heat and rain. The locally owned and operated facility has over 30 years of experience and provides indoor play spaces, covered outdoor yards, and a swimming pool. The team receives ongoing training in pet safety, body language, and first aid.
Requirements
- Genuine love for animals and desire to care for them.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and cleanliness standards.
- Comfort working outdoors in all types of weather, including heat and rain.
- Strong attention to detail and time management.
- Professional appearance and communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Reliable attendance and solid work history.
- Availability to work at least alternating weekends and holidays.
- Ability to lift, bend, and remain on your feet for most of the shift.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in animal care, hospitality, or customer service.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and interact with dogs in group and individual settings.
- Clean suites, play areas, and common spaces.
- Provide basic grooming tasks, including bathing.
- Ensure pets are eating, drinking, and behaving normally.
- Update notes and pet care logs in the facility’s software.
- Assist with client communication and facility tours when needed.
- Feed and walk dogs as part of their daily care.
- Help maintain a clean, positive, and organized environment.
- Follow safety protocols and cleanliness standards.
