About The Position

Reporting to the Administrative Officer, this position is responsible for independently performing various personnel functions while maintaining confidentiality of position processes and employee information. The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience
  • Or Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Serving as an OSC Integrated HR-Payroll System Time and Leave Administrator.
  • Composing written and communicating orally personnel information that needs to be shared.
  • Assisting in the accurate assignment of correct work schedule rules, changes in supervisory assignments, and updates for other personnel data.
  • Maintaining personnel files (including medical, leave of absence, Family Medical Leave, and worker's compensation records) for easy access and audit purposes.
  • Processing personnel actions such as separations, leave of absences, voluntary shared leave, military leave, family medical leave, and worker's compensation claims, retirement, and all related documentation.
  • Submitting position vacancy information for tracking and posting, scheduling interviews, and processing new hires, transfers, and promotional packages.
  • Running facility personnel reports.
  • Serving as a Health Benefits Representative and assisting employees with a wide variety of personnel issues and concerns.
