About The Position

A&C Private Home Care is hiring a Personal Care Assistant/Home Health Aide to provide compassionate, personalized, one-on-one care to clients in Decatur. The role supports clients who are immobile, recovering, or frail, helping them with daily routines, personal care, companionship, mobility, meals, housekeeping, errands, and transportation to medical appointments. Caregivers are expected to protect clients’ safety and dignity, communicate with them about their comfort and needs, and report changes in their physical, mental, or emotional condition to relevant parties.

CPR certification and an up-to-date TB test are required before starting, though candidates may obtain either before beginning work with the company’s support. Prior home-care experience is preferred but not required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Compassionate, dependable, and punctual approach to caregiving.
• CPR certification, or willingness to obtain certification before starting.
• Up-to-date TB test, or willingness to obtain one before beginning work.
• Availability for a flexible schedule.
• Ability to manage and organize clients’ routines effectively.
• Ability to assist with personal hygiene, meal preparation, and errands.

Nice To Haves

• At least two years of relevant experience is preferred.
• Prior home-care experience is a plus but is not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide support, companionship, and comfort to immobile, recovering, or frail clients.
• Report changes in clients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions to relevant parties.
• Assist with personal hygiene, including bathroom visits, bathing, dressing, and brushing teeth.
• Engage clients in suitable activities, such as playing games, taking walks, or having conversations.
• Perform basic housekeeping duties, including cleaning and laundry, and prepare meals.
• Assist clients with household finances, bills, and payments, and run errands.
• Accompany clients on outings and arrange transportation to medical appointments.
• Provide mobility support, including assistance with walking aids and wheelchairs.
• Maintain a hygienic, tidy, and safe environment.
• Perform transfers safely using proper technique and respect clients’ dignity during personal care.
• Communicate with clients to understand their comfort levels and changes in their needs.
