About The Position

Kinetic Design + Development is looking for an Permit Technician to join the Krew. This role is for an operations professional who thrives in both the creative and technical sides of the process. You’ll be a key support player helping projects move from concept to reality by keeping permitting, documentation, research, and coordination on track. This role is perfect for someone who loves organization, enjoys solving puzzles, and wants to build a career inside the world of design, development, and architecture. As a Permit Technician, you’ll work closely with our Development Services team to manage deadlines, streamline processes, and keep clients and internal teams moving forward. No prior industry experience is required. If you bring strong administrative instincts, curiosity, and hustle, we’ll help you learn the rest.

Requirements

  • Completion of a two-year college program or trade school minimum
  • 2+ years of professional experience in an applicable role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization and documentation skills
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional presence with strong customer service instincts
  • Willingness to learn the architecture, due diligence, and permitting process

Nice To Haves

  • Office environment or design firm experience preferred
  • Experience in Sales, Operations, Data Analytics, or Project Management
  • Experience in Real Estate, Construction Management, Development, Permitting, City Planning, or Architecture strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Research permitting requirements, submission processes, timelines, and standards for local jurisdictions
  • Coordinate permit applications and supporting documents for the appropriate Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
  • Track deadlines, deliverables, and project milestones to help keep projects on time and on budget
  • Document all AHJ communication and organize records for easy team access
  • Draft project correspondence including response letters, transmittals, and related documentation
  • Facilitate fee requests, payment tracking, receipts, and expense documentation
  • Coordinate printing, shipping, wet seal signatures, and hard-copy construction documents as needed
  • Support weekly team priorities and pivot to high-need tasks as business demands shift
  • Attend limited pre-development calls with project stakeholders when needed
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping to support client billing and invoicing
  • Contribute to team standards, shared processes, and overall office culture
  • Occasionally travel locally for plan delivery or project coordination needs
