About The Position

The People Operations role at Freed focuses on running and continuously improving the People engine of the company. This is a high-execution, high-ownership position responsible for a wide range of functions including onboarding, offboarding, recruiting coordination, office management, People systems, and ensuring a positive day-to-day employee experience. The goal is to ensure every employee has a seamless experience from their first day onwards, while building the operational foundation necessary for the company to scale efficiently. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and operates with urgency and a strong sense of ownership.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks while remaining adaptable and flexible in a constantly evolving environment.
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, across various channels and with diverse groups.
  • 4+ years of experience in a fast-paced, people-facing role, preferably within a high-growth or startup environment.

  • Experience in high-growth startup environments.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Ashby, Notion, Gusto, or similar.
  • Experience supporting recruiting coordination or candidate experience.
  • Exposure to People analytics or reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Own onboarding and pre-boarding end-to-end, ensuring all logistics, systems, and manager plans are in place, tracking key milestones (Day 1, Week 1, 30/90-day), and proactively identifying risks.
  • Manage recruiting coordination with a high standard, including scheduling interviews, ensuring a positive candidate experience, and collaborating with the Head of People and hiring managers for speed, organization, and clear communication.
  • Execute offboarding processes efficiently by managing separation workflows, documentation, and coordinating with IT, Finance, and managers.
  • Operate and enhance People systems by maintaining data accuracy in tools like Gusto and Windmill, supporting payroll and benefits administration, and identifying opportunities for workflow streamlining.
  • Manage the San Francisco office and overall employee experience, including overseeing office operations, vendors, events, and ensuring a high-quality experience for both in-office and remote employees.
  • Support People analytics and reporting by maintaining dashboards (headcount, attrition, onboarding progress), tracking operational metrics, and contributing to monthly People recaps.
  • Lead the end-to-end planning of team and company off-sites and create meaningful employee experiences through recognition programs, celebrating key milestones, and implementing surprise and delight initiatives.
