About The Position

As Hark scales its operations, we are looking for a People Operations Specialist to manage the day-to-day HR functions for our workforce. This includes onboarding, compliance, timekeeping, and employee support, while also contributing to the development and improvement of the underlying systems. This role requires a hands-on approach, a high volume of work, and a strong commitment to accuracy.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience in People Operations, HR administration, or HR coordination, preferably in a fast-paced startup or the AI/Robotics industry.
  • Hands-on experience with I-9/E-Verify administration and employee record-keeping.
  • Working knowledge of timekeeping systems and basic California wage-and-hour laws.
  • HRIS experience with a strong emphasis on data entry accuracy; experience with Justworks & Rippling is a plus.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and dependable when handling high-volume work.
  • Possess clear, friendly communication skills to support employees at all levels.
  • Strong working knowledge of California employment law, FLSA classifications, and benefits administration frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage an end-to-end onboarding process for new hires, covering offer to start handoffs, background check tracking, new hire paperwork, orientation logistics, badges/equipment coordination, and day-one readiness.
  • Oversee I-9/E-Verify completion, re-verification, and record-keeping, ensuring all files are audit-ready.
  • Execute off-boarding procedures, including coordinating final pay in compliance with California timing requirements, system deactivations, and exit documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and personnel files for all employees.
  • Process HRIS transactions (new hires, changes, terminations) with a focus on data accuracy.
  • Prepare employment verifications, notices, and other required documentation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all HR-related inquiries from employees, including benefits, pay, PTO, policies, and onboarding.
  • Coordinate daily immigration operations with external immigration counsel, managing document collection, case tracking, and timely responses to ensure filings remain on schedule.
  • Maintain organized, confidential immigration files and track critical dates such as visa expirations, extension windows, and work authorization reverifications.
  • Serve as a supportive and responsive contact for employees navigating visa processes, directing legal questions to counsel.
