About The Position

The People Operations Manager drives employee relations, HR compliance, and the consistent application of People policies and programs at Take Command. This role serves as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, providing guidance on performance, workplace concerns, and employment practices while identifying and proactively addressing HR risk. Reporting to the Director of People Operations and providing day-to-day guidance and mentorship to the People Operations Generalist, this role brings hands-on expertise and independent judgment to day-to-day HR matters while supporting the development of strategic and scalable People practices.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of progressive People Operations experience with meaningful depth in employee relations and HR compliance, ideally including experience building HR infrastructure within a high-growth or thinly resourced HR function
  • Demonstrated experience leading employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, performance management, and corrective action.
  • Working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment requirements, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, and state-specific leave, wage, and pay transparency requirements.
  • Experience in coaching managers through complex or sensitive people situations, and operating as a consultative partner to business leaders.
  • Experience owning or significantly contributing to HR compliance infrastructure, including handbooks, policies, recordkeeping, and audits.
  • Strong judgment and discretion when handling sensitive employee matters and confidential information.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex People topics into practical guidance.
  • Ability to operate independently while knowing when to escalate matters to the Director of People Operations or legal counsel.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary talent advisor to managers on performance management, employee relations, difficult conversations, corrective action, and terminations.
  • Lead workplace investigations from intake through resolution, including fact-finding, documentation, and recommendations.
  • Coach managers through sensitive employee situations and ensure consistent, thoughtful application of People policies.
  • Identify employee relations trends and recommend proactive solutions to the Director of People Operations.
  • Serve as a trusted and confidential resource for employees and managers.
  • Own HR compliance across all states where Take Command Health has employees, partnering with legal counsel on complex or high-risk matters.
  • Maintain the employee handbook and policies, compliance calendar, required postings, and other compliance infrastructure.
  • Monitor federal, state, and local employment requirements and translate changes into practical policy and process updates.
  • Conduct periodic HR audits and oversee required recordkeeping and reporting, including EEO-1, OSHA logs where applicable, and I-9/E-Verify administration.
  • Coordinate required compliance training and support managers in understanding their responsibilities.
  • Own the HR components of performance management cycles, including manager guidance, documentation, and escalation support.
  • Partner with the Director of People Operations on workforce planning, job architecture, compensation practices, and broader People initiatives.
  • Partner with the People Operations Generalist on onboarding, offboarding, HRIS, benefits, leave administration, and other day-to-day People operations.
  • Track HR metrics and employee relations trends to inform People decisions.
  • Build and improve People processes that increase consistency, employee experience, and scalability.
