People & Culture Specialist, Projects

Angel•Provo, UT

About The Position

Angel is the home of stories that amplify light. Millions of people can help choose which films and series we make next, and that changes how the work feels: creators and audiences build each project together, and the story behind the story matters as much as what ends up on screen. We're a team that cares about the work and about each other. If you want to help build something that brings more light into people's homes, we'd love to meet you. The People & Culture Specialist special assignment is over projects. This person keeps the People & Culture team's projects on track. The team runs many at once: system implementations and builds, program launches, governance and compliance work, and acquisitions. You'll sit in the project meetings, help build the plan and the assignments for each one, and follow up so the work gets done. You’ll also have your own assignments in tandem, if you can juggle many things at once and not miss the details, this may be for you! You'll work closely with People & Culture leadership, including in confidential meetings, and help manage the team's priorities and workload. You'll have enough context to help back up the team's front-line team members when questions need covering. Done well, this work means the team always knows what's due and who owns it, projects land on time, and nothing People & Culture has promised falls through the cracks. We have a built timeline in advance, and you know the impact of how one item ties into another - seemingly unrelated element.

Requirements

  • Amplify light in every action.
  • As the owner of your outcomes, you are empowered to break down silos and coordinate with any and all people you need in order to reach your goals.
  • You are ultimately responsible for achieving the outcomes while also using resources wisely - whether that be money, people, or time.
  • Know your customer - it might be our viewers, investors, creators, or internal Angel Teams. Ensure you understand your customer and are providing what THEY need and not just what you want to build.
  • You can be trusted with anything. Pay, health, investigations, changes that haven't been announced: none of it leaves the room.
  • You use independent judgment: you know what the team's leaders would want, when to act on it, and when to check first.
  • You're organized: you can track many tasks, owners and deadlines at once without dropping any.
  • You follow up without being asked, and you're comfortable reminding people senior to you.
  • You're at ease with leaders at every level, including executives.
  • You write clearly and can draft a message in someone else's voice.
  • You learn new systems quickly and are at home in Google Workspace, an HRIS and a project management tool.
  • You take ownership, share context, and are candid with positive intent.
  • You care about supporting people and about our mission to amplify light.
  • 2 or more years Human resources experience, including familiarity with recruiting, benefits, onboarding, compliance and basic employment law.
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated project management experience: building plans and timelines, assigning and tracking owners and deadlines, and following work through to done.
  • Experience handling highly confidential information.
  • You must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with system implementations, program launches, or governance and compliance projects.
  • Experience supporting a senior leadership team.
  • Experience in a company headquarters or a fast-growing environment.
  • Experience with an HRIS (Paylocity, Paycom, etc.).
  • 2 or more years of experience managing projects or supporting a team or senior leader, for example as a project coordinator, executive assistant or human resources specialist.
  • Familiarity with Angel, the Angel Guild, and our body of work (films, series, and other projects).

Responsibilities

  • Attend team and project meetings for People & Culture projects, such as system implementations and builds, program launches, and governance and compliance work. Proactive approach rather than reactive, or when reactive needs to occur; it is easily manageable.
  • Help build the project plan for each one: scope, tasks, timeline, and who owns what.
  • Turn meeting decisions into assignments, and make sure every task has an owner and a due date.
  • Track progress, follow up with owners before deadlines, and flag anything at risk early.
  • Keep the People & Culture project and task tracker current, and report status to the team and to leadership.
  • Lead projects of your own from start to finish, as assigned.
  • Run the team's meeting rhythm: agendas, notes, and action items sent the same day.
  • Help People & Culture leadership manage the team's priorities and workload: see where work is piling up and recommend how to rebalance it.
  • Prepare background, data, and drafts of documents and communications for team and leadership meetings.
  • Handle sensitive matters, including Team Member relations, compensation and organizational changes, with complete discretion.
  • Building processes where automation is a multiplier but won’t lose the human/people touch.
  • Back up the front-line People & Culture Specialist on Team Member questions and the People & Culture inbox when needed.
  • Pull data and prepare reports, summaries and presentations for the team and for leadership.
  • Spot processes that are slow, manual or confusing, and propose and build the fix.

Benefits

  • If you need an accommodation to do any of this, tell us and we'll work with you.
