About The Position

The UF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span all of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure. As a People & Culture Assistant at the UF Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI), you will be responsible for supporting a range of HR programs and processes on behalf of the UFHCI and will provide logistical and administrative support to the Office of People & Culture (OHR). An approachable, professional demeanor and attitude, as well as a high level of confidentiality is necessary for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Experience and/or training in HR or administration.
  • Foundational awareness of HR policies and best practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to drive projects to completion.
  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors’ in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, or related field.
  • Direct experience in higher education and/or academic research is highly preferred.
  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be effective independently, maintain appropriate discretion, and utilize effective writing and organizational skills.
  • Strong desire to learn, seek out, and apply new knowledge, methods, and information.
  • Demonstrated forward-thinking mentality with the ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Providing support to the People & Culture team and coordinating the administrative and logistical functions of the Office.
  • Ensuring timely notices and reminders of important payroll, time, and benefits related information, including bi-weekly payroll reminders and open enrollment announcements.
  • Working with POPS to revise and adjust onboarding, training, and offboarding programs and forms to meet evolving Institute needs as directed.
  • Assisting staff with navigating routine issues with benefits, leave, and other HR functions, involving other members of the team as needed.
  • Working with People Operations Partners to curate results and findings from survey data into reports and presentations for leadership as appropriate.
