About The Position

The UF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span all of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure. As a People & Culture Assistant at the UF Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI), you will be responsible for supporting a range of HR programs and processes on behalf of the UFHCI and will provide logistical and administrative support to the Office of People & Culture (OHR). An approachable, professional demeanor and attitude, as well as a high level of confidentiality is necessary for success in this role. In your new role you will be responsible for the following: Providing support to the People & Culture team and coordinating the administrative and logistical functions of the Office. Ensuring timely notices and reminders of important payroll, time, and benefits related information, including bi-weekly payroll reminders and open enrollment announcements. Working with POPS to revise and adjust onboarding, training, and offboarding programs and forms to meet evolving Institute needs as directed. Assisting staff with navigating routine issues with benefits, leave, and other HR functions, involving other members of the team as needed. Working with People Operations Partners to curate results and findings from survey data into reports and presentations for leadership as appropriate. This is an entry-level position, ideal for candidates with some administrative experience and/or an interest in building a career in HR. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and three years of relevant experience.
  • Experience and/or training in HR or administration.
  • Foundational awareness of HR policies and best practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to drive projects to completion.
  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors’ in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, or related field.
  • Direct experience in higher education and/or academic research is highly preferred.
  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be effective independently, maintain appropriate discretion, and utilize effective writing and organizational skills.
  • Strong desire to learn, seek out, and apply new knowledge, methods, and information.
  • Demonstrated forward-thinking mentality with the ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
