About The Position

Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP) seeks a People and Culture Business Partner to join our People and Culture team. The Business Partner serves in a generalist capacity to support the day-to-day human resources operations of BBP by providing administrative and operational support across key People and Culture functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee support, benefits administration, and compliance. The Business Partner tracks and organizes all workflows for the department supporting a culture of accountability and effectiveness, and supports departmental priorities including workplace culture, strategic planning, and DEI initiatives. The ideal candidate is organized, people-focused, and interested in helping to support a strong foundation of human resources services within a mission-driven organization. The Business Partner will report to the Chief People Officer but will work closely with the Deputy Director of People and Culture.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of related experience (internships, practicums, volunteer work, or relevant administrative experience accepted)
  • Basic knowledge of Human Resource practices and employment laws
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines
  • Must be a collaborative team player, possess a strong customer service orientation, and be a consultative problem solver
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism, consistently exhibiting sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with ADP TotalSource or other HRIS or employee tracking systems

Responsibilities

  • Managing the week-to-week, monthly, and strategic workflows of the People and Culture team, including project management tools.
  • Supporting the recruitment and hiring processes, including job postings, application screening, interview scheduling, and pre-employment processing
  • Coordinating new hire onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth and effective transition for new staff members
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records in ADP and personnel files
  • Supporting the leave management and Workers’ Comp process
  • Serving as a first point of contact for routine employee and supervisor inquiries ensuring employees have accurate information regarding BBP policies, procedures, and benefits
  • Assisting with benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, audits, and open enrollment activities
  • Supporting compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and nonprofit regulatory requirements as well as audit preparation
  • Assisting with performance management cycles, training coordination, and staff development initiatives
  • Supporting employee relations processes through documentation, tracking, and coordination under the guidance of senior People and Culture staff
  • Preparing reports and assisting with audits or data tracking as needed
  • Collaborating with team members and program leadership on cross-functional initiatives
  • Providing general administrative support and assistance with special projects as assigned
