People & Culture Business Partner

Powerex Corp.Vancouver, BC

About The Position

Powerex is a fast-paced, dynamic, wholly owned energy marketing subsidiary of BC Hydro. We’re looking for a People & Culture Business Partner who builds, elevates, and owns – someone who’s just as comfortable creating from scratch as they are strengthening what’s already in place. This role sits at the intersection of talent, operations, and culture. You’ll own programs and systems across the end-to-end employee lifecycle and be a trusted partner to leaders and employees across the organization. You bring both a strategic and operational lens – moving with pace, thinking broadly, and balancing agility with sound judgment in an evolving environment.

Requirements

  • Broad exposure across People and Culture, with hands-on experience owning programs end-to-end
  • Operationally strong, detail oriented, well-organized, and knowledge of employment legislation
  • Driven and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership
  • Grounded and thoughtful – able to balance people needs and business priorities
  • A builder mindset — you create, manage, and continuously improve
  • Skilled at navigating different situations, teams, personalities, and dynamics
  • Strong communications skills, with ability to translate complex topics into clear, practical messaging
  • Able to balance speed and agility with governance and structure
  • Curious, adaptable, quick to learn, with a collaborative and approachable style
  • Experience with HR systems (i.e. ATS, HRIS, engagement tools) and people data, with ability to translate insights into action

Responsibilities

  • Be a trusted business partner and the primary point of contact across a wide range of topics
  • Own full-cycle recruitment, elevate employer brand, and build strong, diverse talent pipelines through active outreach and partnerships
  • Partner with leaders on hiring, onboarding, development, performance, and team effectiveness
  • Contribute to and evolve the People & Culture roadmap with innovative programs and initiatives across the employee lifecycle
  • Build scalable processes while staying nimble and iterating based on feedback
  • Own and optimize processes, employee records, systems, and workflows
  • Develop and manage internal communications, including materials and coordinated calendar to drive clarity, consistency, and alignment to strategy and culture
  • Use data and insights to inform decisions and provide meaningful reporting
  • Stay current on trends and enable a high-quality, consistent experience for leaders and employees

Benefits

  • Competitive and comprehensive total rewards package with robust benefits
