About The Position

The Peer Support Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Shelter Program through effective planning, coordinating, scheduling, supervising, and directing Peer Support employees. She will ensure services meet the contract requirements as well as the philosophy, mission and mandate of DEWC. Under the direction of the Shelter Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for a range of human resources matters including acting in the absence of the Manager handling emergent and routine issues. The Peer Support Supervisor will work in collaboration with other DEWC staff to promote principles of peer support and integrated services to women. She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years related experience in a supervisory position, preferable within a unionized environment.
  • Ability to promote and articulate the mission, mandate, philosophy, and values of DEWC.
  • Knowledgeable of the issues impacting women in the dtes, including gender-based violence, mental health, homelessness, and addictions with an understanding of trauma-informed care responses.
  • Ability to both work and support staff, within a busy, chaotic, crises driven environment where there are multiple demands and prioritize.
  • Efficient organizational and administrative skills including record keeping, scheduling, and problem-solving abilities.
  • First Aid Certification and NVCI (or willingness to obtain).
