About The Position

Nemours is seeking a full time Advanced Practice Provider to float between our Primary Care Offices in Orlando, Florida. This role provides medical and nursing care to pediatric patients with acute or chronic illnesses, with a patient/family centered care focus. The provider will perform complete or focused physical examinations, and order, perform, and/or interpret diagnostic or screening tests to develop treatment plans. Referrals to other health care professionals and agencies for specialized services will be made as appropriate. The role also involves developing or approving in-school management plans for patients and making recommendations for diet, activity/exercise, counseling, education, and health promotion within the scope of practice. The provider must commit to working 2 Saturdays a month for 4 to 6 hours each. They will also initiate other measures or procedures based on patient condition and physician/APRN judgment.

Requirements

  • Must have certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Must have current Florida APRN or PA license in good standing
  • Previous pediatric experience required
  • Current American Heart Association BLS

Responsibilities

  • Provides medical and nursing care to pediatric patients with acute or chronic illnesses, with a patient/family centered care focus.
  • Performs complete or focused physical examinations.
  • Orders, performs, and/or interprets diagnostic or screening tests in order to develop treatment plans.
  • Refers clients to other health care professionals and agencies as appropriate for specialized services, including but not limited to: other medical subspecialists, physical and occupational therapy, nutritional counseling and management, special education, growth and development/behavioral counseling.
  • Develops or approves in-school management plans for patients as appropriate.
  • Makes dietary, activity/exercise, counseling, education and health promotion recommendations within the APRN scope of practice.
  • Initiates any other measure/procedure for which the APRN has been trained depending on patient’s condition and judgment of the physician and the APRN.
