This is an internal posting for current Edmonton Inter-Facility Transfer Service (IFT) employees for Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) opportunities. If multiple IFT employees apply, the position will be awarded based on seniority within Edmonton IFT. All hiring requirements and pre-requisites still apply. This posting is open for 5 days and closes on August 17th. If no applicants are received, it will be opened to all Associated Ambulance employees and external general applicants. The PCP role involves providing Basic Life Support (BLS) and Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) procedures for non-emergent patient transportation between medical facilities. This includes assisting patients with mobility challenges (walkers, wheelchairs, stretcher-bound). Staff are responsible for completing patient care reports, maintaining the cleanliness of vehicles and equipment, and managing supply stock. PCPs primarily transport admitted patients within hospitals to other healthcare facilities for testing or treatments, and may return patients to their origin or admit them elsewhere. The IFT Ambulance employee is a key member of the Associated Ambulance inter-professional healthcare team, collaborating with other medical personnel, physicians, and nurses. The role requires standing, reaching, walking, crouching, and bending, as well as lifting and transporting patients and equipment. Employees may work in awkward positions, and may be exposed to chemicals, bodily fluids, needle sticks, moving traffic, and weather conditions.
