About The Position

The PCB Design Specialist designs and develops complex, detailed layouts for printed circuit boards and collaborates on state-of-the-art designs for new or modified RF printed circuit boards. The role establishes design standards and configurations, works from preliminary schematics, part lists, and engineering descriptions of board function and arrangement, and may check design layouts and detailed drawings. This position is remote. Legal authorization to work in the United States is required. The specialist creates PCB and PCBA designs and schematics, develops component library symbols, footprints, and 3D drawings, evaluates PCB design feasibility and emerging design processes, and supports design quality, manufacturability, testability, signal integrity, and cost goals. The role coordinates with engineering, test, quality, manufacturing, and fabrication vendors throughout design and fabrication, and contributes to PCB specifications and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or technical degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Proficient hands-on use of Altium Designer for PCB layout, library management, and PCB design release.
  • Ability to read schematics.
  • Proficient working knowledge of PCB design best practices and applicable IPC standards, including IPC-2221, IPC-7351, IPC-A-600, and IPC-6012.
  • Strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Cadence or Mentor PCB design tools.
  • Ability to use mechanical CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610.
  • Experience in RF circuit PCB design.

Responsibilities

  • Create PCB/PCBA designs in Altium using input from mechanical and electrical teams.
  • Create schematics and modify them as directed by engineers.
  • Create library symbols, footprints, and 3D drawings for components.
  • Study PCB design trends and processes, and evaluate and implement those applicable to Ezurio.
  • Conduct design feasibility studies to evaluate packaging, cost, manufacturing, and system-performance goals.
  • Perform complex CAD and CAE tasks requiring extensive knowledge of equipment capabilities, application techniques, and design limitations.
  • Ensure PCB designs follow design-for-test (DFT) and design-for-manufacturability (DFM) principles.
  • Propose PCB design trade-offs to the engineering design team for resolution and implementation.
  • Communicate with fabrication vendors about quotations and purchase requisitions, and respond to engineering questions from PCB fabricators.
  • Meet quality-design requirements before releasing products to manufacturing.
  • Apply impedance-control requirements for electrical bus interfaces and RF circuits, and use signal-integrity practices during routing.
  • Track PCB technology and process trends and apply them to Ezurio designs.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Test, Quality, and Manufacturing during PCB design and fabrication.
  • Resolve PCB design issues with fabrication and manufacturing vendors.
  • Participate in and provide input to PCB design specifications and standards, considering product and electrical design, manufacturing, regulatory requirements, design trade-offs, quality, cost, and schedule.
