Specialist, PCB Design (Various Locations)

L3Harris Technologies•Palm Bay, FL
•$79,500 - $147,000

About The Position

L3Harris seeks a PCB Designer to support the design and release of rigid, rigid-flex, and multilayer printed circuit boards. The role works with electrical, RF, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to apply defined stackup, signal-integrity, and fabrication requirements and produce accurate, manufacturable layouts. The position collaborates with electrical and mechanical engineers and manufacturing teams to deliver reliable designs that meet performance and cost objectives. The role creates PCB layouts from electrical schematics and design requirements using Siemens Xpedition Layout, and develops fabrication and assembly documentation, including drawings, stackups, and design notes. It also performs design rule checks, manages constraints, participates in design reviews, and coordinates PCB integration into system enclosures and assemblies. The work supports component placement, routing, and signal-integrity needs across digital, power, analog, RF, and mixed-signal designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience; or a graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience; or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Siemens Engineering Data Management (EDM) experience.
  • Siemens Valor NPI experience.
  • Siemens BluePrint PCB experience.
  • Cadence Allegro PCB experience.
  • Experience with high-speed digital design practices, including controlled-impedance routing and differential-pair layout.
  • Experience designing multilayer printed circuit boards for radio-frequency or mixed-signal applications.
  • Experience collaborating with contract manufacturers or fabrication vendors.
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) principles.
  • Experience with three-dimensional mechanical integration and electromagnetic-compatibility considerations.
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and engineering configuration-control processes.
  • IPC Certified Interconnect Designer (CID/CID+).

Responsibilities

  • Create printed circuit board layouts based on electrical engineering schematics and design requirements using industry-standard design tools.
  • Develop and maintain fabrication and assembly documentation, including drawings, stackups, and design notes.
  • Perform design rule checks, manage constraints, and participate in design reviews with engineering teams.
  • Implement design-review feedback to improve design robustness and reduce production risk.
  • Coordinate with mechanical engineering teams to ensure proper PCB integration within system enclosures and assemblies.
  • Support component placement, routing strategies, and signal-integrity considerations for digital, power, analog, radio-frequency, and mixed-signal designs.
  • Create PCB layouts using Siemens Xpedition Layout.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and engineering documentation.
  • Understand fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and relevant IPC standards.
