Specialist, PCB Design (Various Locations)
About The Position
L3Harris is seeking a PCB Designer to support the design and release of rigid, rigid-flex, and multilayer printed circuit boards. The role works with electrical, RF, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to apply defined stackup, signal-integrity, and fabrication requirements and produce accurate, manufacturable PCB layouts that meet performance and cost objectives. The position uses Siemens Xpedition Layout to create PCB layouts from electrical schematics and design requirements. It also involves developing fabrication and assembly documentation, checking designs against rules and constraints, participating in design reviews, and coordinating mechanical integration. The schedule is 9/80: employees work 9 out of every 14 days, totaling 80 hours, with every other Friday off. Locations are Palm Bay, Florida; Carlsbad, California; and Herndon, Virginia.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience; or a graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience; or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Ability to create PCB layouts using Siemens Xpedition Layout.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and engineering documentation.
- Ability to understand fabrication and assembly drawings and relevant IPC standards.

- Cadence Allegro PCB experience.
- Experience with high-speed digital design practices, including controlled-impedance routing and differential-pair layout.

- Experience collaborating with contract manufacturers or fabrication vendors.
- Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) principles.
- Experience with three-dimensional mechanical integration and electromagnetic-compatibility considerations.
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and engineering configuration-control processes.
- IPC Certified Interconnect Designer (CID/CID+).
Responsibilities
- Create PCB layouts from electrical engineering schematics and design requirements using industry-standard design tools.
- Develop and maintain fabrication and assembly documentation, including drawings, stackups, and design notes.
- Perform design rule checks, manage constraints, and participate in design reviews with engineering teams.
- Implement design feedback to improve robustness and reduce production risk.
- Coordinate with mechanical engineering teams to integrate PCBs into system enclosures and assemblies.
- Support component placement, routing strategies, and signal-integrity considerations for digital, power, analog, RF, and mixed-signal designs.
- Create PCB layouts using Siemens Xpedition Layout.
- Interpret electrical schematics and engineering documentation.
- Understand fabrication and assembly drawings and applicable IPC standards.
